Put the Flags Out
During the second lockdown, (after the success of our community quilt) a new creative project was launched. Members of the local community were invited to knit triangular flags that would be made into community bunting. The aim was to link the villages of Lynemouth and Elliington with the bunting- and to do that we would need 0.7 miles worth of triangles!
After several months of knitting, the flags were collected together, strung by volunteers and then the big day came! On Saturday 28th August, the bunting was stretched the distance between Ellington Institute and Lynemouth Surgery and, fortunately, there was bunting to spare when we had finished. It was great to meet everyone who came to have a look, or who beeped at us as they drove along the road!
Thanks to everyone across the villages and beyond who joined in the knitting effort and, especially, to Anne Baxter who led and co-ordinated the project. The bunting will now be spilt up. Some will be given to community buildings in Cresswell, Ellington and Lynemouth and some will be made into blankets and twiddle muffs for people with Alzheimers.
